Peekaboo Navbar

It's the season of Peekaboo everything and peekaboo everywhere. So, why not make Blogger navbar also Peekaboo style? Avatar at Bloggeratto has described how to do this in your Beta blog. With this hack, navbar remains hidden by default but one can see it when he moves his mouse to the top of the page. If you are interested in this, check this out.

Whats next? A peekaboo blog?

It's simply getting better by the day. The pace with which new hacks are coming up I find it difficult to find time and incorporate the ones that I like into my blog. So am waiting for a day when I have a loooong weekend and I'll sit before my PC to put everything in place.

thanks for the link to this. I'll have to incorporate this into my blog once it moves over to the the new blogger.

Soumyadip:

At this rate, it could be possible to make everything in the blog with the exception of the blog post track (that would be like weird) to have a peek-a-boo funtionality of some sort.

So, i can picture that to happen next year.

Matt:

You don´t need to wait to move over the new Blogger to have it, if you read that post htere is a link that will give you two working versions of it for Blogger v2.0 (current Blogger).

Yeah, yeah...but how about on non-beta template? Do you have a code on that?

This peekaboo is cool Ramani...

Raquel, Avatar will be able to answer that. He will probably leave a comment here.

The Navbar is the bar running right across the top of your blog. It has a search box to search your blog or all other blogs. It is also used to navigate to the next blog. It also has a 'Flag' button to notify Blogger about objectionable content.

Avatar, I wanted you to handle the comments because this hack has always been a Bloggeratto hack. And yeah I am very funny :)

Louis, I didn't do anything special for improving page rank. I think it just happens naturally because over 200 blogs link to my blog.

LOUI$$ said...

that mean more link from others will improve pr?that is a nice one!Do you put any meta tag or else?

general question: with the new ftp feature for beta, you have to use a classic template. Do you expect them to make it available for use with the new templates? and also, can I custimize the classic templates like the beta ones? can i have 3 columns and such? hide the nav bar?

sorry for all the questions. ftp just came out.

Unknown said...

Shimon, do they still have that restriction? Did you create a test blog and make sure FTP cannot be used with new templates?

Avatar X said...

Shimon

umm, so they demand a classic template to be used uh?.

very interesting.

but everything done in v2.0 should be pssible Ffp or not.

I guess what they decided is to use the v3.0 settings and make default v2.0 emulation under v3.0 if you are telling me they demand a classic template to be used.

This is very interesting because how they are now adding the tags and labels then?..

in anyway i will try and check this out with a ftp, afterall i have several hostings i don´t use.

Ramani--I implemented your peek-a-boo post hack yesterday and it worked perfectly. Today though when I click on "read more" I get a page not found error--any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Unknown said...

BBlebowski,

I think it should be a temporary error if it worked fine before. Or there could be some problem with Blogger itself.

hey I landed on your blog for the first time today and am falling in love with all your blogger beta hacks. You have already done all the hacks that I ever wanted to do. In fact I was trying to implement author highlighting and landed on your blog while searching for details of blogger beta tags. And found that you have already done this hack.

By the way, I am a beginner to blogger hacks, and I have also implemented a hack for social bookmarking tool(because i didn't know someone has already done!). Have a look at it on my blog. However, I haven't written any post on it yet. See the working thing directly on my blog.

And in case you respond to my comment, do remember to notify me using your email notification hack ;)
Thanx for such a gr8 site.

Ramani--Sorry to bother you again, but I noticed if I load my blog from dashboard-"View Blog", the links work. If I load my blog from a browser, the links don't work. Does this give us a hint as to what the problem is?

Thank you sir, I appreciate any help you can give me.

Unknown said...

Turbo, thanks for your comment. You could still come up with more hacks that will benefit others.

Unknown said...

That's wierd, BBlebowski. Did you change anything in the template after it was working fine? Also, what is your blog? Your profile is not viewable.

BBlebowski said...

Ramani--Thank you for your time. My blog is: beljorde.blogspot. Nothing has been changed on my end since the links worked.

Unknown said...

I just clicked on some read more links and it seems to work fine in your blog. am i missing something?

BBlebowski said...

Ramani--I, quite by accident, discovered what the problem was with the "page not found" error when using your "read more" hack. My work version of firefox was set to force left mouse click in a new window and this caused (obviously) a conflict--thus the error. Thank you so much for your kind attention to my little problem.
P.S. I love your hacks, keep up the good work.
