Resizr and 3-column conversion

Though I had converted my blog to 3 columns, I couldn't widen the background images used in this scribe template because I don't have access to any image processing software. So, I just set the CSS to repeat the image for the extra width. This resulted in a vertical stripe in the middle of my sidebar that some of you might have noticed. I just left it as it is and it added more to the antique look (or i thought it did :)) .

But today, one of my readers David Finberg suggested that I could use the online tool called ResizR to resize any image. I used it and successfully resized the 3 background images to my blog's new width! If you have followed my 3-column conversion instructions and have a similar problem, you could try this tool too. You have to find the URL of one or more images that form the background, resize all of them and host them somewhere so that you can use them in your template.

(I have updated my Hacked Scribe template with resized images. So, if you are using Hacked Scribe, you can download the new version from here.)

If you want the two small columns to be on either side of the Main section Like http://medicolegal.blogspot.com/ you can use this settings

/* Content ----------------------------------------------- */
#content {
width:98%;
margin:0 auto;
padding:0;
text-align:left;
}
#mainsidebar {
width:76%;
float:left;
}
#main {
border:1px solid #333;
width:66%;
float:right;
}
#sidebar {
border:1px solid #333;
width:32%;
float:left;
}
#rightbar {
border:1px solid #333;
width:23%;
float:right;
}

I have created MAINSIDEBAR and brought Main and Side inside that. This way (by nesting) we can bring it.

I did it! Yeah! It took me the whole day, I started from scratch with just a very basic CSS template. I had no image programm to use but still it looks very similair to my earlier modified (well, just a few little customizations) version of the pre-made template. But finally I have a 3-column layout now, too.

now, only a proper footer and the ghostbar from bloggarato are missing to complete a pretty neat blog... for my understanding at least.

I love your blog and all of the help you provide. I went to download the three-column minima dark template and it says all of my widgets would be lost. Is there any way to prevent that from happening? I want three columns, but I dont want to lose the current links, widgets, etc.

James, unfortunately my templates won't have any of your widgets. So, you will have to recreate them. Or you could try to convert your current template to 3-columns using my instructions in another post.

Hi,

I have one suggestion, can you please compress your javascript with some online tools, so that the loading time gets less. I have one link.

I am not sure if compressing will help improve the speed. But I will check it out.
