New look, new feature at Vibes

Vibes is back in business with a new look and a new feature. The new look is inspired by Aditya's earlier work and I thank him for that. The new feature is Integration with Google reader allowing you to easily import your shared items into Vibes. The idea is to collect interesting news/blog items shared by everyone while reading their daily dose of feeds and bring out the items liked by many. For more details about importing, please read this. Please note that the previous method of submitting blog post URLs is also supported.

If you are using Google reader for your feeds, I encourage you to try this new feature and contribute to the website. In future, I will add support for importing Bloglines/Newsgator clippings and shared items from other feed readers which support sharing. Vibes can serve as a feed sharing portal by integrating with many feed readers.

Ramani

I have just encountered a major problem as the new add on seems to have completely wiped out the posts on my home page. Can you please help me with this.

Not working

Real_PHV_Mentarch said...

Cool!

Now, what happens with the old remote Bvibes we would add on our posts so that Bvibers would vibe them directly on the spot?

Unknown said...

Mentarch,

I need to check up on that. That feature is not used by many but if you have any such posts, let me know if it still works or not.

ricardo, what's not working?

Real_PHV_Mentarch said...

Ramani - no, they do not work anymore ... they leave a blank upright rectangle, even after modifying the BVibes' URL to the new one ...

Unknown said...

ok, I will fix it soon. Thanks for informing.

Hi Ramani! I'm having the same issue as Mentarch, after adding the bvibes button to the post it doesnt show up.

Ramani, you may want to leverage Clipmarks as well. Forbes is talking about buying them out. They could become big.

They may appear as a competitor now but their unique social service could make them a viable partner in the future.

Sorry to post this question here, but i didn´t know where to put it. Im having problems with the new labels window, where the + - appears. I only can have 20 posts, and i have labels with more than that.

Do you know how to fix it?

The blog is www.buenacerveza.blogspot.com

if you click "todas las cervezas" in the labels it should appear 38 beers, but there are only 20.

Thank you very much.

Hey Ramani, would you do a guess post on my blog... please.

I've put a couple of new authors on and seeing as how you are really the founder of the feast on my blog as it were with your NEO template it would be really great if you came over and talked about NEO... and b vibes and stuff... so what ya think?

if you are good with this e mail me and i will include you as an author.

I love your site by the way, you have one of the few tech sites out there that is super useful to the minimally tech-enabled.

I have a heads up for you on your peekaboo script: if for some reason the close span tag gets deleted, it will cause major problems for IE users: 1.the sidebar disappears entirely 2. the content of the problem post below the peekaboo disappears as does the "read me" link 3. all other posts below the problem post disappear entirely.

It was an easy thing to fix once I knew it was happening (doesnt happen in firefox) but might be worth a warning.

Awesome job. keep up the good work. Soon I'm going to try to add some 'resources for food bloggers' and feature you. I'm just a small fish, but still thanks for the help!

(also, if you are looking for a new project, I've been trying to figure out how to turn dynamic drive's hvmenu into a widget for blogger.)

Yes, closing span tag is very important. That's why I suggest using "edit html" mode instead of "compose" mode and place it properly.

Hi There,

Would you happen to have a working 4 column template for blogspot with a sports theme? I'm looking at changing my template to a 1000px wide to maximize space. Thanks.

Hi Ramani,

First of all, great work! I found a lot of helpful tricks here and this is one of the sites I usually go to when I want to put something extra in my blog. :)

Anyway, would like to ask if one can pass parameters (eg referral ID) via URL to a blog? If yes, can you show how this is done? Thanks a lot!

I was wondering if there was a way to make multiple footer columns, like the multiple sidebar columns?
